Jon Howells +
Jon founded Park Partners in January 2014 after having been a Managing Partner at Capstan Capital Partners. Previously, he was head of the European Transportation and Business Services team at Lazard where for 15 years he advised on M&A, IPO advisory, and restructuring transactions. Prior to Lazard, he was a strategic consultant at Arkwright Consulting. Jon graduated from Oxford University with a MA in Classics.
Aran Williams +
Aran has worked for over 20 years in finance of which he spent 17 years at Lazard, specialising in the global shipping and offshore sectors.
Since 2009, Aran has advised on many significant shipping restructuring transactions, working extensively with senior creditors on deals such as Genmar, Torm, OSG, Clipper, Excel Maritime, Primorsk and Eagle Bulk. In addition, Aran successfully closed many M&A transactions including UASC's merger with Hapag Lloyd, Torm's merger with Oaktree’s product tanker fleet, HMM’s sale of its LNG business, and the sale of VShips to Omers.
Before specialising in shipping, Aran was a generalist banker at Lazard, focused on Nordic and European M&A and restructuring. He started his career in corporate finance at S. G. Warburg (UBS) before becoming a fund manager in Moscow with Prosperity Capital Management.
Aran studied at Durham University and holds a joint Honours degree in French and Russian.
Santiago Izaguirre +
Santiago has over 18 years of combined work experience between advisory, principal investments and executive roles with multinational corporations. Before Park Partners he was a Director at boutique investment banks Fraser Finance LLP and Heritage Capital, where he sourced, led and successfully completed M&A and growth equity capital transactions in the TMT and Life Sciences sectors. His current focus and sector expertise is FinTech, SaaS, Digital Media and Mobile Internet. Santiago has also been an active angel investor and mentor to flagship UK technology ventures. Santiago holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a MSc in Electronic Engineering from UNLP.
Edward Matthews +
Edward has over 15 years of advisory and principal investment experience with a particular focus on the shipping and maritime services sectors. Previously, he worked at a multi-family office, making and overseeing investments in the shipping, aviation and property sectors. Before this, he worked in the Mergers & Acquisitions and Equity Capital Markets teams at Rothschild both in London and Hong Kong. Edward graduated from Durham University with a BA in Combined Social Sciences (Economics, Business & Politics).
Sven Garas +
Sven joined Park in 2017 and covers ShipTech/maritime software companies. He has worked on M&A transactions and corporate finance projects in the shipping services, dry bulk and ferries sectors in the UK and the Nordics. In addition to this, Sven has over 10 years’ experience as Project Manager in the recruitment and media industry, and has also worked in business development for a music streaming company. He is a Norwegian native speaker and graduated from Cass Business School with an MSc in Corporate Finance.
Simon Dunn +
Simon joined Park Partners in 2015 to extend the firm’s activities into ecommerce and retail. He has 25 years of investment banking expertise, gained in both corporate finance and equity research, at Arma Partners, RBS, Dresdner Kleinwort, UBS and others. Simon holds an MA in Economics, Finance and Investment from Exeter University; and a BSc in Geology from Edinburgh University.
Peter Ahlås +
Peter has had a successful career in the maritime insurance and shipping services industry. He served as Director and Chairman of HSBC Insurance Brokers, Cyprus and of HSBC Shipping Services. He is currently a board member of Tide Forsikring, a Director of Maritime London, Trustee of Maritime London Officer Cadet Scholarship Trust, Chairman of C Solutions and a member of the advisory board of Svenska Bostadsfonden, a property investment company. He is a Freeman of the City of London and Liveryman in The Worshipful Company of Shipwrights. Peter served in the Royal Swedish Navy and retain a close involvement and interest in Naval Issues.
